Newton Food Centre: 10 Must-Try Stalls and How to Get There

Newton Food Centre is one of Singapore’s most iconic hawker destinations, offering a rich mix of local favourites and street food classics. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning for more, these ten stalls are a standout combination of heritage, flavour, and craftsmanship. Here’s where to eat and what to expect.

1. Heng Carrot Cake

Unit: #01-28
Opening Hours: 6 PM – 11 PM (Closed on Tuesdays)

This Michelin Bib Gourmand stall serves Teochew-style carrot cake made from scratch, steaming their own radish cake instead of using factory-made versions. The black version is sweet and savoury with dark soy sauce, while the white version highlights the eggy, moist texture of the homemade cake. Their fried oyster omelette is also a crowd-pleaser, with crisp egg and juicy oysters.

2. Kwang Kee Teochew Fish Porridge

Unit: #01-20
Opening Hours: 11 AM – 8 PM (Closed on Mondays)

This heritage stall has over 60 years of history and serves clear, light fish broth made without pork or lard. Fresh Batang slices are the star, paired with cabbage and ti poh powder for umami depth. The dual fish soup with added milk gives a creamier profile.

3. Alliance Seafood
