Bedok 85 Market: 10 Must-Try Stalls for an Authentic Hawker Feast

Bedok 85 Market, officially known as Fengshan Food Centre, stands out as one of Singapore’s most iconic supper destinations. Whether you’re craving heartwarming noodles or sizzling BBQ, this hawker hub delivers flavours that have drawn queues for decades. Here’s a curated list of 10 standout stalls you shouldn’t miss.

1. Xing Ji Rou Cuo Mian

Unit: #01-07
Opening Hours: 11:30 AM – 11 PM (Closed on Thursdays)

The soup-style bak chor mee here is a cult favourite. Springy mee kia sits in a broth that’s deceptively clear but incredibly rich, packed with pork bone flavour. Minced pork, bouncy meatballs, and crispy lard complete each bowl. Their use of orange chopsticks and floral white bowls is instantly recognizable.

2. Seng Hiang Bak Chor Mee

Unit: #01-08
Opening Hours: 3:30 PM – 12 AM (Closed on Wednesdays)

This rival to Xing Ji offers both soup and dry versions. The broth leans garlicky with a bold flavour, and noodles are firm without an overpowering alkaline taste. Generous helpings of minced pork round off the dish. Many find it difficult to choose between the two.

3. Chomp Chomp BBQ

Unit: #01-44
Opening Hours: 4:30 PM – 1:20 AM (Closed on Mondays)

Known for hotplate sambal stingray, this stall delivers a smoky kick with well-marinated fish. The sambal has depth without overpowering heat, and chinchalok on the side adds tang and umami. Stingray is grilled to perfection—crispy outside, moist inside. There are also over 50 zi char dishes to pick from.

4. Sin Bedok North BBQ Chicken Wing

Unit: #01-12
Opening Hours: 2:30 PM – 12 AM (Closed on Mondays)

These wings glisten under the stall lights, caramelised with a honey-butter glaze. Each piece crackles on the outside while remaining juicy within, finished with a squeeze of lime and a dip in spicy chilli sauce. Otah and occasional nasi lemak make great add-ons.

5. 85 Bedok North Fried Oyster

Unit: #01-09/10
Opening Hours: 2 PM – 2 AM

This famous orh luak stall spans two units and rarely slows down. Expect oysters fresh and plump, paired with a crispy, starchy egg mix that’s golden on the edges. The chilli sauce is tangy, adding brightness to every bite. It’s awarded a Michelin Plate for good reason.

6. Chai Chee Pork Porridge

Unit: #01-64 (Day) / #01-23 (Night)
Opening Hours: 6 AM – 3 PM, 4 PM – 12 AM (Closed on Mondays)

Thick Cantonese-style congee made from long-boiled rice grains, turning into a smooth, gooey texture. Meatballs and sliced pork are tender, often seasoned with sesame oil. Add an egg for a creamy touch. Popular during both breakfast and supper hours.

7. Shi Wei Da Satay Bee Hoon

Unit: #01-69
Opening Hours: 1:30 PM – 7 PM

A bold peanut gravy covers bee hoon, pork slices, and soft liver in this lesser-seen Singapore dish. The sauce is thick and layered with nutty, sweet, and spicy notes. A Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition in 2018 cemented its reputation. Portions are filling and satisfying.

8. 85 Ngor Hiang Hei Biar

Unit: #01-14
Opening Hours: 11 AM – 11 PM (Closed on Thursdays)

Serving up traditional Teochew ngoh hiang and prawn fritters, this stall lets you handpick your fried favourites. Each piece is re-fried for extra crunch and paired with sweet and chilli sauces. Great for sharing, especially during brunch hours. The meat rolls are a standout.

9. Fu Zhou Oyster Cake

Unit: #01-56
Opening Hours: 10 AM – 8 PM (Closed on Mondays – Thursdays)

This heritage stall still makes oyster cakes the old-school way—hand-shaped and fried fresh to order. The rice batter turns golden and crisp, encasing a filling of oysters, prawns, minced pork, and chives. Other creative variants include salmon and crab. Quantity is limited daily.

10. 75 Ah Balling Peanut Soup

Unit: #01-25
Opening Hours: 11 AM – 10:30 PM

A beloved dessert stall serving handmade glutinous rice balls filled with black sesame, peanut, yam, red bean, and even green tea. The peanut soup is rich and aromatic, or swap it out for ginger, almond, or longan red date bases. Started as a pushcart, it still holds nostalgic value.
