Sims Vista Market & Food Centre: 10 Stalls You Must Try

Just a few minutes from Aljunied MRT, Sims Vista Market & Food Centre isn’t flashy—but what it lacks in fame, it makes up for with food that’s rich in heritage and flavour. Since 1976, this low-profile gem has been feeding generations with everything from traditional Teochew duck rice to modern takes on fishball noodles. If you’re wondering what to eat here, these ten stalls bring bold flavours and strong loyal followings.

1. Green Chilli Chicken Rice

Unit: #01-09
Opening Hours: 10 AM – 1 PM (Closed on Mondays and Fridays)

A one-dish stall that lives up to its name. The deep-fried chicken leg is tender and crisp, perched on fragrant basmati rice and paired with crunchy fish keropok. But the real standout is the vibrant green chilli sauce—savory, tangy, sweet, and just spicy enough. A side of spicier red sambal adds an extra punch for heat-seekers.

2. Tai Dong Teochew Duck Rice

Unit: #01-04
Opening Hours: 10:30 AM – 4 PM (Closed on Mondays and Thursdays)

With over 30 years of history, this stall draws steady crowds for its succulent braised duck. The lor (braising sauce) is light, savoury, and deeply flavourful—true to its Teochew roots. Add stewed cabbage, braised pork belly, beancurd, or peanuts for a well-rounded, satisfying meal.

3. Hock Heng

Unit: #01-31
Opening Hours: 3 AM – 12 PM (Closed on Tuesdays and Sundays)

This stall opens only three days a week, yet commands one of the longest lines. Known for seafood soups and noodles, the dry version stands out with springy noodles, fresh batang fish slices, and prawns tossed in a ketchup-chilli blend. Fish is fresh, clean-tasting, and never mushy.

4. Warong HJH Kamisah

Unit: #01-13
Opening Hours: 6 AM – 1:30 PM (Closed on Fridays)

Serving Indonesian and Javanese fare since the first generation, this stall offers dishes like mee rebus, lontong, and soto ayam at pocket-friendly prices. Their standout? Nasi Ayam Penyet with a whole deep-fried pomfret—a rare and value-packed plate that wins regulars over.

5. Havelock Hainanese Curry Rice

Unit: #01-70
Opening Hours: 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM (Closed on Mondays)

Run by a friendly couple, this stall has over five decades of experience in old-school curry rice. The curry leans on the thinner, sweeter side, coating rice and sides in just the right way. Must-tries include the paper-thin fried pork cutlet, steamed pork balls, and otah.

6. Hollywood Braised Duck Rice · Duck Porridge

Unit: #01-73
Opening Hours: 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM

This stall serves a different style of duck rice with thicker, starchier, and herbal-leaning gravy. The duck is moist, the rice aromatic, and the duck porridge at just $4 is a crowd favourite. Beyond rice, kway chap and yam rice are on offer, adding variety.

7. Uncle Sim Teochew Fishball Noodle

Unit: #01-72
Opening Hours: 7 AM – 7 PM

A newer addition that’s quickly become a local go-to. The bowl comes with springy noodles, handmade fishballs, ngoh hiang, tau pok, and pig skin—offering texture and depth. Soup is anchored by rich ikan bilis flavour, and the stall operates into the evening, rare for this centre.

8. Boon’s Chicken Rice

Unit: #01-24
Opening Hours: 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM

Since 1992, this stall has drawn lunchtime crowds for their expertly roasted chicken with crispy skin and moist meat. The rice is aromatic but not greasy, and the rich, lightly sweet soup rounds it off. Sio bak (roast pork) is also available and gets strong reviews.

9. Old Flavour Spinach Soup

Unit: #01-23
Opening Hours: 10 AM – 7 PM

For a lighter meal, this stall delivers clean flavours with bowls filled with spinach, goji berries, and your choice of protein. Each bowl is made to order, and options include noodles, rice, or macaroni. A former outlet earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand, and the current one lives up to the reputation.

10. Nain Food Stall

Unit: #01-07
Opening Hours: 7 AM – 7 PM

Nasi Padang done right. This stall keeps things simple but satisfying with beef rendang and ayam masak merah that taste home-cooked. The staff are warm, and the prices reasonable. If prawn crackers are available that day, don’t skip them.
